DBS Asaba Sets Up "Back On Air" committee.

The management of Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba has vowed to overcome the natural disaster that befell the station and restore normal broadcast of programmes on both the radio and TV services within the shortest possible time.
The General Manager of the station, Mrs Evelyn Binitie stated this while setting up a five man high powered committee saddled with the responsibility of returning the signals of the broadcast outfit back on air.
The committee which had the Deputy General Manager, News and Current Affairs Mr Frankwhyte Osabohien as Chairman, also had the Deputy General Manager, Outside Broadcast Mr Ruke Edjeren as member. Other members of the committee included the Assistant General Manager Engineering Services Mr. Monday Imariegbe, the Assistant General Manager ICT Mr. Gabriel Muemoifo,the Assistant General Manager Public Relations Comr. Innocent Ofonyeadi and the Chief Technical Officer Mr Samuel Okonkwo as secretary.
Addressing the committee members, the General Manager reiterated the strategic importance which the state media organisation occupies in its quest to propagating government programmes and policies, especially at the grassroots. She categorically harped on the need to promote the SMART Agenda policy of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, noting that in the face of mounting competition from new private radio stations all around Asaba, there was need for Delta Broadcasting service to maintain it's leading role, taking into cognizance the upcoming 2019 general elections and the need to portray government in its true perspective.
The Deputy General Manager,Outside Broadcast Mr Ruke Edjeren in his remarks assured the Management that everything possible will be done to actualize the "Back to Air" challenge, despite the enormous challenges posed by shortage of funds and the normal bureaucracy which does not always suit the broadcast environment. He added that with the cooperation of all stake holders, the radio arm of the service should be back on air within the next 48 hours and called on well meaning individuals and corporate organisation to visit the station to see the extent of devastation with a view to lending a helping hand and putting the station back on its footing.
It would be recalled that "ACTION INK" also reported a few days ago, that the Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba was submerged in water after the heavy downpour last Saturday and the flood destroyed the radio studio and transmitters, computers, cameras and other valuable electronics and accessories running into millions of naira.

TWO YEARS ANNIVERSARY: ALIKA CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR OKOWA, DELTANS FOR THEIR SUPPORT

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Paul Alika, has congratulated the state governor, Sen. DELTA STATE CHIEF JUDGE COMMISSIONS NEW MAGISTRATE COURT AT IGBODO.

The Delta state Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro, has commissioned a new magistrate court at Igbodo in Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state. Speaking during the ocassion, Justice Umukoro urged the people of Igbodo not to imitate the “deviants in Ogwashi-Uku court". He maintained that with the establishment of the Igbodo Magistrate’s Court, the arraignment of criminal suspects will no longer be at the magistrate’s court at Umunede, adding that “the jurisdiction of the Igbodo Magistrate’s Court includes Igbodo, Ekwuoma, Ute Ugbeojei and Owerre Olubor communities.” Enjoining the Police to provide security for the presiding magistrate during court sessions, he appealed to the pioneer members of staff of the court to exhibit the highest form of commendable conduct “devoid of cheating, extortion, bribery and corruption as anyone caught in such acts would be dealt with severely.” Emphasizing that the Igbodo Magistrate’s Court should be protected, Umukoro stress...
