VIDEO OF SEN. OKPOZO'S CASKET IN DELTA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY AT A JOINT SITTING OF EDHA/DTHA

Hon. Okpozo's casket was brought into the Joint sitting of both Edo state and Delta state Houses of Assembly presided over by the speakers of both Houses, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya and Rt. Hon. Dr. Justin Okonoboh.

At the joint sitting, members of both Houses of Assembly took turns to express their condolences and disclosing how the late lawmaker had affected their lives positively.
The former deputy speaker was reputed to be the one who presided over the bill establishing the then Bendel State University, Ekpoma, now Ambrose Alli University as well as the then Bendel State Polytechnic, Ozoro, now Ozoro Polytechnic, Delta State.
Okpozo, a consummate politician, was a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state.

Meanwhile, Hon Festus Okoh has commiserated with the family of the deceased, urging them to take solace in the fact that he left behind a string of achievements as a legacy.
The other members urged the families of the late senator to take solace in the fact that their beloved died a fulfilling man, those who spoke included the Majority leader of the Delta House of Assembly and also the Member representing Esan west in the Edo state House of Assembly among others.

They further described Okpozo's death as a very painful exit of an iconic politician who loves telling truth to power always. The lawmakers said if they could legislate for him not to have died they would have done so adding that death was inevitable.  They also asserted that the politician was a man of truth who hates oppression,  that he always gave them undiluted, invaluable advice on peace and stability of the state.
They  prayed God to give all those he left behind, especially the wife and children, the fortitude to bear this great loss and to continue his legacies of equity, justice and fair play.
Okpozo who was one-time Deputy Speaker of the defunct Bendel State House of Assembly on the platform of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and was later elected to the Senate on the platform of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Okpozo died in Benin City after a brief illness at the age of 81.

After the joint plenary, the Houses adjourned sine die.
