The chairman of cattle market, Agbor, Alhaji
Ahmed Mohammed Yinus, has cautioned herdsmen against trespassing farm lands in the various communities stressing that it has the propensity of sparking off inter ethnic conflict in the community.
Alhaji Yinus disclosed that the members of the cattle markets are not pleased with the recent destruction of farm crops in some parts of the area by grazing cattle. He noted that the crops are the source of livelihood for the farmers just as the cattle is to the herdsmen.
The chairman of the cattle market further stated that there was need for communities and the herdsmen to have constant dialogue and negotiations where proper terms and conditions about boundaries would be spelt out to the herdsmen to prevent further destruction of crops by grazing cattle in order to ensure peace and tranquility in Ika land.
speaking on the recent kidnapping and killings by the Fulani Herdsmen, Alhaji Yinus exonerated the herdsmen from such act stating that those who perpetrate such nefarious act of kidnapping, raping and killing are not herdsmen but they disguise as herdsmen. He said the herdsmen are men of unquestionable character who are well known and monitored by the market association. He disclosed that the herdsmen have assisted in so many ways to the discovery and release of some hostages by hoodlums who have godfathers in the area.
