CALVARY POLYTECHNIC OWA OYIBU MATRICULATES PIONEER STUDENTS

The proprietor and chairman of the governing council of the Calvary Polytechnic Owa oyibu, in Ika North East Local Government Area, Delta state, Chief Nkenchor Okwuokenye, has stated that the Polytechnic was an endeavour to assist in the development of his immediate community, the state and the country.
 The Proprietor was speaking during the maiden matriculation ceremony of about 50 students who are pioneers of the school. He said the Polytechnic which received approval from the National Board for Technical Education NBTE, and the Delta state ministry of education in 2014, has also secured NBTE satisfactory recommendation and approval from the Federal Ministry of Education in 2016 while academic work commenced in the school in January 2017.
 The governing council chairman also disclosed that the polytechnic currently offers regular 2-year ND approved programmes and certificate courses such as Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the school of Engineering Technology, Accountancy from the school of Management studies and Computer science from the school of Applied Science.
 In his speech, the rector of the Polytechnic, Mr. Francis Dawodu, stated that in the process of developing the students in knowledge and skills, proper values would be developed and inculcated in the individual students for their survival and the survival of the society.  Mr. Dawodu added that the polytechnic was striving to create institution where students are challenged, trained and developed in skills, attitudes, knowledge and aptitudes through modern methods of knowledge delivery.
 The Polytechnic Rector further congratulated the matriculating students for being fortunate to be admitted into the institution and pleaded with them to focus on their studies in order to attain excellence instead of involving themselves in malpractices and other crime related issues.
 Dignitaries present at the Matriculation ceremony included the Delta state commissioner for Education Engr. Jude Sinebe, The Obi of Owa kingdom and chairman of the Delta state Council of traditional rulers who was  appointed visitor of the school. Also present was the father to the Delta state state governor, Pa Arthur Okowa.
 In their separate remarks, they urged the pioneer students of the Calvary Polytechnic, to engage themselves in positive activities and to focus on their studies stressing that any form of misconduct would lead to expulsion/rustication from the school. They also advised the students to be good ambassadors if the institution, their families and the host community.
