I SOLD MY FATHER'S ONLY PLOT OF LAND TO SUPPORT MY EDUCATION-FMR EDITOR IKA WEEKLY.

The former editor of Ika weekly newspaper Mr. Augustine Ekamagule, has reacted to rumours making the rounds in the wake of his resignation from the Local Tabloid. His words:
" I was not born with a wooden spoon let alone a silver one.I am a confirmed Umudein Street boy in the remotest part of Orogodo,Agbor, Delta State,Nigeria.I grew up when drinking water from the Orogodo River was a luxury.I am a product of Orogodo Primary School, Agbor and trekked under the scorching sun to finish from Ika Grammar School, Boji-Boji,Owa.My father died in June 18,1992,and I sold his only plot to support my first two years in the university. My other years in the university was by faith.I have thrived by the grace of the Almighty God to remain relevant in life.I remain committed to every engagement because i was not taught to disappoint my benefactors.Unfortunately,i discovered recently, that i have been given a negative name by people who are not courageous enough to correct my mistakes or know exactly how i operate.I am at the moment working out ways to remain a responsible father and husband.I do not visit public office holders except on invitation and since my resignation as the editor and a staff of Ika Weekly newspaper, more than a month ago,i have not been engaged by anyone.I am seriously using this medium to appeal to sycophants to please let me be.I am still that street boy struggling to survive. If you don't like me or don't want to work with me,please don't destroy me, if you do so, you have the Almighty God to contend with.I appreciate all who are in the vanguard of promoting hardwork and not the opposite."

So much was not recorded about Agbor. The History of Agbor Kingdom like those of other African ancient kingdoms, empires and peoples, is based largely on oral tradition. Various oral accounts on the origin of Agbor and Ika people exist but the most credible being that “Ogunagbon” and his followers, who founded Agbor, came from Benin and first settled in “Ominije”, presently located in today’s Agbor-Nta. Following what can best be described as personal crisis between two princes in Benin and subsequent settlement of this dispute as agreed to by the chiefs and elders of Benin determined by casting of lot, led to one of the princes settling in what became know...
