IKA VILLAGE SQUARE SET TO ORGANISE IKA ECONOMIC SUMMIT


The convener of a social, pilitical, and cultural group known as The Ika Village Square, IVS, barrister Eugene Uzum, has called on members of the public to harness the potentials laying bare in the Ika nation.  Barrister Uzum was speaking while addressing journalists, on the forthcoming Ika Ecomic Summit with the theme "Harnessing the economic potential of Ika nation through strategic partnership".
 The IVS convener said the group which comprises only persons from the Ika ethnic nationality from home and abroad, aims at propelling, articulating and sustainment the collective interests of the Ika nation in the politics of the federal republic of Nigeria.
 He stated that the IVS which started about a year ago as an online group, has carried out a lot of activities including a comprehensive tour of all the villages and towns in the Ika Nation in order to identify the potentials as well as the challenges facing the various components of the Ika Nation and preferring solutions for the common good of the people. 
 Uzum noted that the IVS was a private sector driven organisation based on selflessness and sacrifice of members towards the growth and development of Ika nation. 
 He disclosed that the Ika nation was blessed with human and natural resources such as Solid Mineral deposits, including Kaolin, Coal, bitumen, potash, granite, food production, agricultural and agro allied industries, tourists attractions, as well as Oil and gas deposits. 
 He stated that the forthcoming Ika economic summit will feature the exhibition of the potentials in Ika nation as well as address issues on how the Ika nation can build on public and private partnership. He also stated that the Ika nation have leading personalities and potentials in politics, agricultural and financial sectors, mining, academics and media sectors. Uzum asserted that Ika nation by virtue of producing the state governor, controls the policy of the state and also the Central bank of Nigeria. He maintained that the Ika ecomic summit which will come up in the month of June, will be made possible from financial contributions of members of the IVS adding that the summit will also feature resources persons who are notable captains of industries. He also observed that there was need for a symbiotic partnership that will move the Ika nation, Delta state and Nigeria forward. 
 Uzum also noted that the Ika nation is situated in a strategic location in Delta state with proximity to the Onitsha market. He added that Ika has two local government areas in Delta state but occupies four local governments in the neighbouring Edo state. 
 Also speaking, a member of the IVS, Mrs. Ifeoma Agbomah, affirmed that there was need to key into the entrepreneurial policies and prosperity agenda of the Delta state government under the leadership of governor Ifeanyi Okowa, towards human capacity development. 
 She gave assurance that the Ika economic summit will be an epoch making occasion stressing the need for members of the public to identify and partner with the Ika nation and its Potentials.

TWO YEARS ANNIVERSARY: ALIKA CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR OKOWA, DELTANS FOR THEIR SUPPORT

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Paul Alika, has congratulated the state governor, Sen. DELTA STATE CHIEF JUDGE COMMISSIONS NEW MAGISTRATE COURT AT IGBODO.

The Delta state Chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umukoro, has commissioned a new magistrate court at Igbodo in Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.  Speaking during the ocassion, Justice Umukoro urged the people of Igbodo not to imitate the “deviants in Ogwashi-Uku court".
